Becoming Catholic

Welcome! We are happy that you are interested in learning more about OCIA and the Catholic faith.

OCIA is the process by which adults come into the Catholic Church. OCIA stands for the “Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.” Those interested in learning about the Catholic faith come together weekly starting in September to learn about the Roman Catholic Church’s scriptures, traditions, and teachings, discuss their beliefs, and discover where God is present in their lives.

OCIA is a time of discernment; an opportunity to get a basic understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church as well as experience the spiritual side of the faith. It is a time to ask questions and determine if the Catholic faith is right for you. Each person’s faith journey is unique and there is never any pressure for you to become Catholic.

The OCIA team helps guide, support, and instruct those discerning whether to become members of our Catholic community. Team members share their faith and walk alongside inquirers. Our team is made up of dedicated parishioners who are committed to helping you along the way.

OCIA is for adults who:

1. Have never been baptized and who want to inquire about the Catholic faith;

2. Have been baptized into another Christian tradition (Lutheran, Methodist, etc.) who want to inquire about the Catholic faith; or

3. Are baptized Catholics who have not completed the Sacraments (Eucharist and/or Confirmation).

Journey of Faith to the Catholic Church meets Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm starting September 2, 2025. There is no cost for the program.
